This bill, the "Health Care Prices Revealed and Information to Consumers Explained Transparency Act" or "Health Care PRICE Transparency Act", amends the Public Health Service Act and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to require hospitals to publicly disclose their standard charges, including gross charges, payer-specific negotiated charges, discounted cash prices, and the minimum and maximum negotiated charges, in a consumer-friendly, machine-readable format. It also requires health insurance plans to provide cost-sharing information and negotiated rates for in-network and out-of-network providers, as well as historical net prices for prescription drugs, to allow consumers to better understand their potential financial obligations.
