This bill amends the New York Executive Law to change the requirements for filing a complaint with the Division of Human Rights. Specifically, it removes the requirement that a complaint be "verified" and instead requires that the complaint be filed "under oath or by declaration." The bill also updates the title of the official who can file a complaint on their own motion, changing it from the "chair of the commission on quality of care for the mentally disabled" to the "executive director of the justice center for the protection of people with special needs." The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
