This bill, the Advancing Uniform Transportation Opportunities for Veterans Act (AUTO for Veterans Act), aims to amend Title 38 of the United States Code to authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide or assist in providing an additional vehicle adapted for operation by disabled individuals to certain eligible persons. Specifically, the bill allows the Secretary to provide an eligible person with an additional automobile or other conveyance if more than 25 years have elapsed since they last received one, or if more than 10 years have elapsed starting 10 years after the enactment of the bill. Additionally, the bill treats certain vehicle modifications, such as medically necessary van lifts, raised doors, and wheelchair tiedowns, as medical services. The bill also extends the loan fee table in Section 3729(b)(2) of Title 38 until May 16, 2031.
