This bill amends the Family Court Act to provide for the automatic expungement of records in proceedings under the Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) article of the act. The key provisions include: (1) prohibiting the use of PINS records as evidence in other court proceedings, (2) defining the process for automatic expungement of PINS records upon termination of the proceeding in favor of the respondent or upon the respondent's 21st birthday, and (3) allowing the court to order the expungement of PINS records in the interest of justice upon motion of the respondent. The bill also maintains the confidentiality of police records relating to PINS arrests and dispositions.
