This bill authorizes the town of Niskayuna, in Schenectady County, to offer the optional retirement plan established under Section 384 of the Retirement and Social Security Law to four police officers - John F. Connor, Jeffrey A. Relation, Joseph H. Twitty, and Paul J. Daly - who were previously covered under Section 375-c of the same law but failed to timely apply to participate in the optional plan due to reasons not attributable to their own negligence. The town may elect to do so by filing a resolution with the State Comptroller by June 30, 2023, and the affected officers can then elect to be covered under the optional plan by filing a request with the Comptroller by June 30, 2024. The town will bear all costs associated with implementing the provisions of this bill.
