This bill authorizes the establishment of aquatic invasive species inspection stations in the Adirondack Park and within a 10-mile radius of its boundary. It requires owners and operators of motorized watercraft who do not have a self-issuing certification or an inspection/decontamination certificate to stop at these stations before entering a waterbody, in order to inspect their watercraft and ensure compliance with existing aquatic invasive species spread prevention requirements. The bill also allows the Department of Environmental Conservation to issue inspection or decontamination certificates, and to recognize certificates issued by other governmental entities. Additionally, the bill directs the department to conduct education and outreach efforts to promote cleaning, draining, and drying of watercraft, and makes permanent certain provisions of law relating to aquatic invasive species spread prevention that were set to expire.
