This bill grants Michael Aregano additional service credit with the New York state and local police and fire retirement system for the period from July 29, 2000 to December 22, 2000, during which he was enrolled in the Black River/St. Lawrence Valley Law Enforcement Training Academy. Aregano, who is currently a police officer with the Town of Cicero Police Department, was not granted service credit for this training period due to reasons not ascribable to his own negligence. The bill requires Aregano to file a written request with the state comptroller by the end of the year following the effective date of the act to receive this additional service credit. All past service costs incurred in implementing the provisions of this act will be borne by the Town of Cicero.
