Specifically, the bill requires that training programs be scheduled during regular, paid working hours, offered in-person if appropriate, incorporate experiential learning, and provided at no cost to the food service personnel. If the training is scheduled outside of regular, paid working hours, the bill mandates that food service personnel be consulted to minimize disruption, compensated at the regular rate of pay, and not penalized for not attending. The bill also clarifies that it does not supersede or modify any existing federal, state, or local laws or legal obligations between employees and employers.
