Bill Summary

A BILL To authorize the President to impose sanctions with respect to any foreign person the President determines engages in public or private corruption activities that adversely affect a United States person, and for other purposes.

AI Summary

This bill authorizes the President to impose sanctions on any foreign person (individual or entity) that the President determines has engaged in public corruption activities, such as soliciting or accepting bribes, using state authority to extort payments, or engaging in extortion, that adversely affect a United States person. The sanctions include making the person ineligible for visas and inadmissible to the United States, and revoking any existing visas or entry documentation. The bill also requires the President to submit annual reports to Congress on the sanctions imposed and terminated, as well as recommendations on whether additional sanctions would help deter public corruption. The authority to impose sanctions and report to Congress under this bill would sunset after 6 years, but sanctions already in effect would remain until terminated.
