This bill requires any bank or other entity contracted with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) to provide benefits, such as unemployment compensation, temporary disability benefits, or family leave insurance, by means of a prepaid debit card, to mail two separate notices to each recipient. The first notice informs the recipient of the card's issuance, and the second notice is sent to any recipient who has not used their debit card within the first 60 days of the card's initial funding by the department. Both notices include a reminder not to dispose of the prepaid debit card, as it may be reused for future benefits. This legislation is intended to confirm a recipient's eligibility for benefits in the event that the debit card does not successfully arrive.
