This bill, the Military Perimeter Transparency Act, directs the Secretary of Defense and the Secretaries of the military departments to monitor real property ownership and occupancy in the vicinity of U.S. military installations, both inside and outside the United States, to identify instances where a foreign adversary (as defined in the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019) owns or occupies, or is seeking to own or occupy, such property near military installations. The bill requires the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the military departments, to submit an annual report to Congress describing the identified foreign adversary ownership or occupancy, changes since the previous report, and recommendations for appropriate responses.
