This bill aims to expand protections for victims of domestic violence by preventing their abusers from possessing or receiving firearms. It amends federal law to broaden the definition of "intimate partner" and "misdemeanor crime of domestic violence" to include dating partners and certain other individuals. The bill also establishes a grant program to assist states and tribes in implementing policies and procedures for the removal of firearms from individuals subject to domestic violence protection orders. Additionally, it requires courts issuing such orders to also issue orders for the surrender of firearms and ammunition by the subject of the protection order.
