This Resolution establishes the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, a group of 13 members appointed by the Speaker of the House, with 5 appointed in consultation with the minority leader, to investigate the causes and circumstances of the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, including the preparedness and response of law enforcement agencies and factors that may have contributed to the event. The committee's functions include examining intelligence, technology, financing, and foreign influence operations, as well as evaluating the command, control, and communication of various agencies, and the policies and procedures of the U.S. Capitol Police. The committee is authorized to access information, issue subpoenas, take depositions, and will produce a final report with findings and recommendations for corrective measures to prevent future violence and strengthen democratic institutions, and it will terminate 30 days after filing this report.
