The bill also modifies existing law regarding the sale of land used for public water supply protection, requiring the BPU to receive recommendations from the Department of Environmental Protection within 12 months and then issue its decision on such sales within 180 days, with the same 270-day extension option if necessary. Additionally, the BPU has 75 days to request further information from the utility to deem a petition complete, and these timeframes can be extended if both the utility and the BPU agree.
