This bill establishes a National Supply Chain Database to be maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) through the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership program. The purpose of the database is to assist the federal government and industry in minimizing disruptions to the U.S. supply chain by providing an assessment of U.S. manufacturers' capabilities. The database will be designed to provide a national view of the supply chain and enable authorized users to determine the U.S. manufacturing capabilities for critical products like defense supplies, food, and medical devices. The bill also exempts the database and related non-public information from public disclosure and authorizes $10 million per year from 2022 to 2026 for the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program to carry out the establishment and maintenance of the National Supply Chain Database.
