Bill Summary

AN ACT To hold accountable senior officials of the Government of the People’s Republic of China who are responsible for or have directly carried out, at any time, persecution of Christians or other religious minorities in China, and for other purposes.

AI Summary

This bill aims to hold senior officials of the Government of the People's Republic of China (PRC) accountable for persecuting Christians and other religious minorities in China. It calls for the U.S. government to consider such officials as having committed gross violations of human rights and severe violations of religious freedom, which would subject them to sanctions and immigration restrictions. The bill also encourages the U.S. government to strengthen diplomatic efforts to promote religious freedom in China, support programs to protect persecuted religious groups, and continue designating China as a "country of particular concern" for religious freedom violations. Additionally, the bill expresses the sense of Congress that the United Nations should condemn China's persecution of religious and ethnic minorities, including Uyghurs and Christians.
