This bill requires the Secretary of State and Secretary of Homeland Security to develop a long-term strategy to counter the "sharp power" political influence operations of the Chinese Communist Party globally and in the United States, and to protect U.S. citizens, particularly Chinese Americans and members of other diaspora communities, who are often targeted by these malign influence efforts. The bill also requires the State Department, in coordination with the Director of National Intelligence, to submit an annual unclassified report describing the political influence operations of the Chinese government and Communist Party affecting the U.S. and select allies, and to provide recommendations on the resources or authorities needed to effectively counter these operations.
