This bill authorizes qualified physicians to perform patient examinations and evaluations through telehealth for renewals of physician certifications for the medical use of marijuana. Specifically, the bill amends the existing law to allow physicians to conduct certification renewals through telehealth, while initial certifications must still be conducted through a physical examination. The bill also requires physicians to evaluate existing qualified patients at least once every 30 weeks and report any adverse drug interactions or reductions in the use of other controlled substances to the Department of Health. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2022.
