This bill regulates the flight of unmanned aircraft/drones (also known as small unmanned aircraft systems) in the airspace over early, elementary, and secondary educational facilities in the Commonwealth. Specifically, it prohibits the operation of these aircraft within 400 feet of a "school zone" (defined as on or within 50 feet of the real property comprising a public or private accredited preschool, Head Start facility, elementary, vocational, or secondary school) without authorization from the superintendent of schools. Violations are subject to fines and confiscation of the aircraft.
