This bill, the Terry Technical Correction Act, amends the First Step Act of 2018 to expand the definition of "covered offense" to include certain violations involving cocaine base. This means that defendants convicted of these offenses may be eligible for reduced sentences under the provisions of the First Step Act. The bill also clarifies that a motion made under the First Step Act that was denied after a court determination that a violation was not a covered offense shall not be considered a denial after a complete review on the merits.
