This bill amends Section 16 of the Michigan Campaign Finance Act to allow campaign finance reports to be used for commercial and campaign fundraising purposes. Key changes include: 1. Filing officials must make campaign finance statements and reports available for public inspection and reproduction within 3 business days of receiving them. If the report is a late contribution report, the Secretary of State must also make it available online by the end of the business day it was received. 2. Filing officials can no longer prohibit the use of campaign finance statements for commercial purposes. 3. The bill extends the required preservation period for campaign finance statements and reports from 5 years to 15 years for committees that received over $50,000 in an election cycle or if filed with the Secretary of State. 4.
