This bill, the Comforting Our Military Families through On-base or Remote Treatment Act of 2021 (also known as the COMFORT Act of 2021), aims to provide non-medical counseling services for military families. The key provisions include: 1) authorizing the Department of Defense's Office of Military Family Readiness Policy to coordinate programs and activities for the provision of non-medical counseling services to military families through the Department of Defense Military and Family Life Counseling Program; and 2) allowing licensed or certified mental health care providers who are members of the uniformed services, civilian employees of the Department of Defense, or designated contractors to provide these non-medical counseling services remotely, regardless of the location of the provider or recipient, as long as the services are within the scope of their authorized federal duties.
