This bill, titled the "Afghanistan Security Through Intelligence Act," directs the Director of National Intelligence to produce a National Intelligence Estimate on the situation in Afghanistan and the surrounding region. The Estimate will assess the presence and potential impact of China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, and other foreign countries in Afghanistan, as well as any changes in the threat to the U.S. homeland or U.S. entities abroad due to the withdrawal of U.S. forces. The bill also requires the Director to submit a report on the intelligence community's collection posture and efforts to detect and prevent any increased terrorist threats from Afghanistan, as well as the impact on intelligence collection and sharing in the region. The report must be updated biannually for five years.
