This bill amends the Social Services Law to provide automatic Medicaid eligibility for workers who are on strike or involved in an industrial controversy. The key provisions of the bill are as follows: 1. Persons who are not eligible for Medicaid coverage during an employment strike or industrial controversy will be eligible for Medicaid coverage during such events, subject to certain provisions. 2. The Medicaid coverage provided under this bill will be limited to the period in which the person requires coverage during the strike or controversy. 3. The Commissioner of Health will promulgate regulations to establish eligibility requirements, covered medical services, and a process for providing presumptive eligibility when a qualified entity determines that a person meets the eligibility requirements. 4. For the purposes of determining eligibility under this bill, the individual's resources will not be considered or required to be applied towards the payment of the cost of medical care, services, and supplies. 5. Individuals will be eligible for presumptive eligibility for Medicaid assistance under this bill in accordance with the existing provisions of the Social Services Law.
