This bill repeals and replaces Section 115.306 of the Missouri Revised Statutes. The key provisions are: 1. No person shall be a candidate for elective public office in Missouri if they have been found guilty of or pleaded guilty to a felony under federal or state law. 2. Candidates for public office must file an affidavit affirming they are not delinquent on state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, or real property taxes on their residence, and are not a past or present corporate officer of a fee office that owes taxes to the state. The Department of Revenue will investigate any complaints of delinquency and disqualify candidates who fail to pay outstanding taxes within 30 days. 3. Candidates for public office in a city not within a county that performs county functions must provide copies of paid tax receipts or no-tax-due statements, and the election authority must verify there is no pending ethics complaint against the candidate before placing their name on the ballot.
