This bill establishes the National Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Supply Chain Database. The Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will create this database to assist the United States in minimizing supply chain disruptions by providing manufacturers with a resource. The database will be connected to the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership Centers in each state and territory, which will contribute information to the national database. The database can include company information, capabilities, accreditations, and products, and will have different access levels for basic, non-proprietary, and proprietary information. The bill also provides protections for voluntarily submitted supply chain information and prohibits the use of database data to promulgate new regulations on manufacturers.
