This bill increases the penalty for assaulting a law enforcement officer. Additionally, the bill requires a minimum sentence of 180 days of total confinement for anyone convicted of assaulting a law enforcement officer during a riot or unlawful assembly. The bill also adds these new assault provisions to the state's sentencing guidelines (RCW 9.94A.515).
