This bill amends protections for medical cannabis patients. It requires the state or any political subdivision to treat an employee's use of medical cannabis or status as a medical cannabis cardholder the same as any other prescribed controlled substance, with some exceptions. The bill also prohibits courts from considering an individual's medical cannabis use or possession differently than the lawful use of any prescribed controlled substance, as long as the use complies with state law. Additionally, the bill specifies that a parent's or guardian's use of medical cannabis is not considered abuse or neglect of a child, unless there is evidence of harm or unreasonable risk of harm to the child. The bill also restricts the use of hair or fingernail drug tests for individuals in child welfare proceedings.
