This bill amends the jury service qualifications in Maryland. It specifies that individuals must be adult U.S. citizens residing in the county to serve on a jury. It also disqualifies individuals who cannot comprehend or communicate in English, have a documented disability preventing satisfactory jury service, have been convicted of a crime punishable by over 1 year in prison and are currently serving the sentence, or have a pending charge for such a crime. The bill removes the provision that allowed individuals with disqualifying convictions to serve if pardoned.
