This bill amends the degree requirements for licensure as a professional engineer in New Mexico. The key provisions of the bill include: (1) expanding the types of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees that qualify an applicant for licensure through examination, such as allowing degrees from programs that fulfill the required content of the engineering education standard defined by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES); (2) reducing the number of years of engineering experience required for certain degree holders to obtain a professional engineering license; and (3) allowing licensure by endorsement or comity for applicants who are currently licensed as engineers in other jurisdictions, including foreign countries, if their qualifications meet or exceed New Mexico's standards.
