This bill establishes the "Family Representation and Advocacy Act" in New Mexico. It creates the Office of Family Representation and Advocacy, which is responsible for appointing and compensating attorneys to provide legal representation for eligible adults under the Fostering Connections Act, and for children and parents, custodians, or guardians whose children are or are at risk of being placed in the legal custody of the Children, Youth and Families Department. The bill also establishes the Family Representation and Advocacy Commission, which will oversee the Office and provide guidance and support to the Director. The Director is responsible for managing the operations of the Office, setting standards for attorney qualifications and oversight, and developing plans and policies to improve the representation and advocacy for the clients served by the Office.
