This bill aims to improve school districts' responses to complaints of discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying. It requires the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction to develop and update model student handbook language on policies and complaint procedures related to discrimination, including sexual harassment, as well as harassment, intimidation, and bullying. School districts must include this model language in their student, parent, employee, and volunteer handbooks, and on their websites. Additionally, the bill requires each school district to designate a primary contact person responsible for ensuring prompt investigation and resolution of discrimination complaints, and for communicating with the primary contacts for the district's policies on harassment, intimidation, and bullying, as well as policies related to transgender students.
