This bill directs the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study on the extent to which the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provides funding to entities that utilize such funds for human genomic sequencing services or genetic services provided by organizations in countries that are considered a concern for national security. The study will examine what is known about the potential risks of such foreign entities obtaining sensitive genomic information of U.S. citizens and residents, whether HHS has sought to use domestic entities without such foreign ties, and whether HHS has sufficient data security and protection measures in place. The Comptroller General will provide recommendations to address any identified national security vulnerabilities.
