This bill eliminates the authority of the Department of Juvenile Justice to establish juvenile boot camps and the ability of a court to order a juvenile adjudicated delinquent to attend such a boot camp. The bill removes the provisions related to the Department establishing or contracting with private entities, political subdivisions, or commissions to set up juvenile boot camps with military-style components. The remaining provisions give the Department the authority to receive juveniles committed to it by the courts, establish facilities for their rehabilitation and confinement, and make arrangements with other entities for their temporary care.
