This bill, the Securing Uninterrupted Pandemic Preparation Of Resources and Therapies Act (SUPPORT Act), aims to provide for mental health and substance use disorder services in response to public health emergencies. The bill amends the Public Health Service Act to authorize the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to support the continued access to or availability of mental health and substance use disorder services during public health emergencies. It also requires SAMHSA to include a strategy in its strategic plan to support such services during emergencies and to report on its activities in this regard. The bill further requires SAMHSA to issue a report on recommendations to improve the provision of these services during public health emergencies, and directs the Government Accountability Office to examine SAMHSA's role and activities in supporting mental health and substance use disorder services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
