This bill would require county elections officials to make publicly available on their website a list of the precincts where officials who are fluent in a non-English language and English have been appointed, as well as the language(s) other than English in which they will provide assistance. This is intended to encourage non-English-speaking citizens to vote by minimizing obstacles. The bill also requires the Secretary of State to report on the number of such bilingual election officials recruited in each county after each statewide general election. If the state mandates additional costs on local agencies due to this bill, it would provide for reimbursement.
