This bill revises the law concerning the disposition of assets of a county society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (county society) that has dissolved or had its charter revoked, canceled, or suspended. The key provisions are: 1. Each county society must include in its bylaws how its assets will be disposed of, after payment of any outstanding debts, if it dissolves or has its charter revoked, canceled, or suspended. The assets must be transferred to the Coalition of County SPCAs for distribution to an appropriate entity or entities within the same county with a similar mission of promoting animal welfare. 2. The assets of a dissolved or charter-revoked county society must be disposed of as specified in the county society's bylaws, and the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has no claim to or authority over these assets.
