This bill makes a supplemental appropriation of $1 billion from the General Fund for After School Recreation in Urban Areas for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022. * $1,000,000,000 is appropriated for Grants for After School Recreation in Urban Areas. This funding is from the General Fund and is intended for municipalities that are members of the New Jersey Urban Mayors Association. The funds will be allocated by the Commissioner of Education through an application process for purposes such as improving, retrofitting, and rebuilding playgrounds, public swimming pools, and other recreational infrastructure; reopening parks; and establishing, enhancing, and procuring equipment for mentorship programs, youth sports and recreational programs, and after school and summer educational programs that include computer science, home economics, and other life-building skills.
