This bill establishes a program in the Department of Labor and Workforce Development to connect persons with disabilities with job training and employment. Specifically, the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, in consultation with the Department of Human Services, is required to establish a program to connect persons with disabilities with qualified organizations that provide job training for the disabled community and with employers that have employment needs. The bill requires the department to establish and maintain a program in collaboration with qualified organizations. Under the bill, a qualified organization is: (1) a nonprofit organization that has a minimum of five years of experience working with persons with disabilities; or (2) an organization that works with nonprofit organizations that has a minimum of five years of experience working with persons with disabilities. The bills provides that the department shall issue a request to community-based and nonprofit organizations to provide job training, education, and outreach services and prescribe requirements for qualified organizations. The resource hub shall include a list of qualified organizations providing job training, education, and outreach services to persons with disabilities. The database shall also allow employers to post job openings. The database shall provide information on State labor laws and guidelines on fair employment.
