Under current law, candidates for nomination or for election to public office are required to file with the Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) cumulative and quarterly reports of contributions received. This bill would require a candidate for nomination to the office of Governor and for election to the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and a candidate for nomination for election or for election to the office of member of the Senate or General Assembly, and any candidate committee, joint candidates committee, or both, of such a candidate, to report contributions within 48 hours of receipt. This bill also requires ELEC to post, within 72 hours of filing, the reports required under current law to be filed by those candidates. This provision would apply only until the 48-hour timeframe required by the bill is implemented.
