This bill: Establishes certain benefits for Class Two special law enforcement officers, who are authorized to exercise the same full powers and duties as a permanent, regularly appointed full-time police officer. The bill allows these officers to carry a firearm at all times while in the State of New Jersey, provides them with the same immunity from civil liability as permanent, full-time police officers, and allows them to be assigned to work as security in polling places on election day. The bill also allows arson investigators to carry a firearm at all times while in the State of New Jersey, and provides that criminal records and reports relating to the arrest and investigation of a law enforcement officer or Class Two special law enforcement officer shall be automatically expunged unless the officer is convicted of a criminal offense for an action that occurred while in the performance of their duties.
