This bill authorizes the use of school bus monitoring systems. The key provisions are: 1. It allows municipalities and school districts to contract with private vendors to install, operate, and maintain school bus monitoring systems on school buses to assist in enforcing the law that requires drivers to stop for school buses with flashing lights. 2. The monitoring systems must be able to capture video and high-resolution digital images that show the bus's flashing lights, the vehicle passing the bus, and the vehicle's license plate and make/model. 3. The Commissioner of Education, Superintendent of State Police, and Chief Administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission are authorized to adopt regulations to implement the law, and the Supreme Court can adopt relevant court rules.
