This bill amends the definition of "abuse" in Arizona's statute on vulnerable adult protection to include "emotional abuse," which is defined as a pattern of ridiculing, demeaning, verbally harassing, or threatening to harm a vulnerable adult. The bill also adds a definition for "emotional abuse" to the existing list of definitions related to vulnerable adult protection, including abuse, exploitation, and neglect. The purpose of this bill is to expand the legal protections for vulnerable adults to include emotional abuse, in addition to the existing provisions covering physical, sexual, and financial abuse.
