This bill amends the law regarding group insurance contributions for school districts, charter schools, and entities participating in the Public School Insurance Authority. The bill sets the minimum employer contribution for group health insurance at 80% of the cost for all employees, removing the previous salary-based tiers. Additionally, the bill appropriates $52.2 million from the general fund to the Public Education Department to distribute to these entities to cover the increased employer contributions in fiscal year 2023. The changes made by this bill take effect on July 1, 2022.
