This bill creates a Division of Men's Health within the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Division will focus on raising awareness of health issues specific to men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, heart disease, smoking cessation, respiratory illness, unintentional injuries, health equity, and cultural competency. It will also work with mental health providers to address issues like the mental health of men, developmental issues of boys, violence prevention, self-esteem, and communication. The Division will conduct an annual assessment of the status of men's health in collaboration with Illinois' schools of public health and make recommendations to the General Assembly to address health disparities among men.
