This Memorial requests the Workforce Solutions Department to establish a task force to finalize recommendations for a paid family and medical leave program in New Mexico, aiming to address the lack of paid leave for workers needing to care for family members or recover from serious medical conditions, and to improve economic stability and public health, especially for vulnerable populations like women-led households and communities of color. The task force will include representatives from various organizations, including non-profits focused on women, children, elder rights, and disability rights, as well as labor unions, tribal governments, business groups, and academic institutions, and will be responsible for developing a plan for a state-administered trust fund and reporting its findings, including economic modeling of costs and revenue, to the Governor and the Legislature by October 1, 2022.
