AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to parole eligibility for certain incarcerated persons aged fifty-five or older

This bill amends the executive law to establish parole eligibility for incarcerated persons aged 55 or older who have served at least 15 years of their sentence. It requires the parole board to conduct an interview within 60 days of the person's 55th birthday or 15 years of their sentence, whichever is later, to determine if they should be released to community supervision. If release is not granted, the board must provide the reasons in writing and schedule a reconsideration date within 24 months.
