This bill proposes several key changes: 1. It requires that, no later than 60 days before the general election, a candidate for Governor must submit to the Secretary of State the name of the person who will be the joint candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and whose name will appear on the general election ballot alongside the gubernatorial candidate. 2. It allows the Governor to appoint the Lieutenant Governor to serve as the Governor's chief of staff or the director of the Arizona Department of Administration, or to fill any other position for which the Governor is authorized by law to make an appointment. 3. The bill specifies that this Act will only take effect if the Arizona Constitution is amended to establish the office of Lieutenant Governor, which would be subject to a vote of the people at the next general election. 4. The changes proposed in this bill would apply beginning with elections for the term of office that starts in 2027.
