This bill increases the maximum amount that the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia is permitted to reimburse to an eligible institution per completed noncredit workforce training program per eligible student from $3,000 to $4,000 under the New Economy Workforce Credential Grant Program. The program provides grants to cover two-thirds of the cost of noncredit workforce training programs, with the eligible student paying one-third of the cost upfront and agreeing to pay an additional one-third if they do not complete the program. Upon completion and attainment of the credential, the Council reimburses the institution for the remaining one-third of the program cost.
