This bill expands the purposes for which Crime Reduction Grants can be made in New Mexico. The bill allows grants to be used to develop or improve coordination of services between law enforcement and treatment programs, establish law enforcement crisis intervention teams, coordinate access to transitional or reentry homes, recruit or retain criminal justice personnel, develop data-driven policing programs, and staff criminal justice coordinating councils. The bill also requires grant recipients to comply with certain conditions, such as using evidence-based practices, developing data-sharing agreements, and reporting on program outcomes.
